In an attempt to overcome the difficult weather in the city of Los Angeles, NASCAR has made the historic decision to postpone the LA Clash until Saturday night.
With devastating rains predicted for the city, NASCAR has wisely decided to postpone the ELAE Clash doubleheader to Saturday in order to ensure the safety of the fans. Racing would not be possible when it hits until Wednesday, even though there is a chance of continued rainy weather for the next few days.
“The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Mexico Series race events have been rescheduled for Saturday night in order to prevent conflicts due to the exceptionally bad weather on Sunday. We appreciate the cooperation and support that Los Angeles Public Safety and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum provided in planning tonight’s event to guarantee a secure environment for spectators, participants, and employees. We encourage fans to put safety first while making decisions because we recognize that the weather can get worse as the day goes on. We applaud all of the participants in this historic event, including our fans and partners.”
Fox Sports 1 will broadcast the Los Angeles Clash starting at 8 p.m. ET. The NASCAR Mexico Series event is scheduled to take place just after the Los Angeles Clash.”
The starting lineup will be decided by practice pace, while the Heat Race and the LCQ have been canceled. The top 22 drivers will proceed to the main program, while the 23rd position will go to the highest 2023 points finisher who hasn’t yet been confirmed. The practice time is 5:35 p.m. ET.
The certifying body reports that ticket holders would be contacted in the following several days “for the next steps to handle this event’s unprecedented impact… ParkViz customers who paid in advance for Sunday parking will receive a complete refund. Updates regarding the ongoing program and refunds will be accessible on the @nascarclash social media account and on nascarclash.com.”

Who Is in the L.A. Clash at Racing?
There are no open entries for the 36-car Cup Series race. This will be our first opportunity to witness numerous revised paint jobs in addition to the addition of new drivers and teams for 2024. In addition to 22 additional drivers, 23 of the fastest drivers will participate in the main race. The 2023 player with the highest point total who hasn’t yet been confirmed will finish in the 23rd and last slot in the Los Angeles Clash.
There were adjustments made to the remaining Saturday schedule to account for this phase. The rescheduled NASCAR Cup Series practice is set for this Saturday at 5:35 PM Eastern Time. A 75-lap last-chance qualifying race and four 25-lap qualifying heats were canceled, and practice speeds will determine the starting 22 positions for the main program. The top finisher in the 2023 Cup Series standings, who would not otherwise be eligible for this provision, will have the final seat in the 23-car field reserved for them.
